A family affair

Family, friends, and fun. I was fortunate enough to spend time with my sister from Atlanta and cousins from L.A. When all of us are together there is a never a dull moment, constant laughing, ongoing jokes, and you can never forget the family dinners. It was good to be able to just see one another. During these few days we have seen a few movies most notably "The girl with the dragon tattoo". Just to be around family made my break complete and always a time to remember and will always be my favorite time of year.

Setting up your work station when you get there is a part of being prepared. If you are at work early, you give yourself the chance to turn in projects a little early (after revision). The Workout.

The job I came across that I really enjoyed that I felt really passionate about was working at a gym in high school as a gym assistant. My job title was exactly what I did, most of my day consisted of cleaning helping in classes filing papers signing people in and lastly just being a utility to others. I loved this job because of the people around me they made it fun loving and being around supportive people in sports oriented place was a cool thing to me, and in my free time I was able to play basketball with people there or even use the pool, it was my place of enjoyment but also employment. I developed skills of working with other filling free time with work not just play and I was able to learn how to fill out time sheets and file paper and organize them on the computer. I learned that I am a person that brought joy to others ion the work place and given a task I will do my best to get it done and I learned how to schedule things so my operations will run much smoother. I feel that these attributes will serve me in my internship because everything I learned there I have progressed on and it was good to have that foundation to build on going forward in my work and also my career.  It was a pleasure to work there and I learned how to use myself in a workplace and be an asset.

Occupy Reality.

Occupy is a movement so strong in America during this finical crisis and Diego Rivera's Frozen Assets mural is a great depiction of art and reality behind our countries wealth. This piece draws many emotions with its somber feel and dim colors. Occupy is taking a stand for what they feel is right, them being the 99% of the population in a financial fall. Murals by Diego Rivera were done by him to evoke feelings and create deep thoughts; with the “Frozen Assets” mural he did a very good job of that. Rivera was a master at seeing a problem and being able to illustrate it. The now famous occupy movement has done a good job of showing the country that there is a serious finical equality problem and this movement has spurred thought in not only Americans but the world. Occupy camps are popping up all over the globe like, Occupy India, Occupy China and the infamous Occupy Oakland. Rivera’s work was something dear to his heart such as the people of Occupy and his work created a following as people began to understand the strong points and reasoning behind his hard work. Each passing day with these protest the occupy movement puts another staple in history just as Rivera had with his work and both with be everlasting and have changed our country.

Inspiration.

Inspiration touches the heart, engulfs the soul, and spews out of your pores of action. To be inspired is almost to be reborn in a sense of new direction. Once you’re inspired by something it’s almost as if your train of thought changes or you’re given a new outlook. Music is something that inspires me, it can change my mood it can get me down or give me a warm feeling inside. Pending my mood my music will change, I can listen to all types of music I love all genres. Music to me is almost a place of serenity and a place to open your mind. The inspiration I get from listening to Neo Soul is a feeling of ease and thoughtfulness. An urge to dance comes from music, or an attempt to dance when an upbeat song is on. R&B can simple make me think or really feel a melody, this inspires a mellow side of me. Just a simple ballad can change your outlook on a situation, for example a downer of a day can change with an optimistic song or even just make you smile. Music was made to entertain, but music is much more than just that to me. It is a gateway that helps stir up my creative juices, and at times I get fully invested into a beat, melody or even tone. Lyrically is where music hits home the most, I can really meditate on lyric’s, I will either relate to or just have a strong feeling for and they can bring out almost any type of emotion out of me. Inspiration can come in many forms what inspires me just happens to have smooth vibrations.

More than a game.

Communities come in different ways, this community just happens to have a core of a sport. Basketball, to me it's more than what meets the eye. This sport has been a life lesson for me and the people around me have been vital.
A community has its pieces and so does the basketball community. We as players come together to either work on our game or compete for bragging rights or to win an organized tournament. Basketball is also a way to not only see more of the country when traveling but also meet new people. In my 15 years of playing basketball I've got a different outlook on life because of what I've learned about being a team and work ethic and everyone in the sports or basketball community respects you because they know the work you have put in to work on your craft. The mindset you have on the sport can be applied to many different aspects of life weather it be a project or just being a leader in the community. Basketball is more than a game but a lifestyle.

"The Heart Of The Bay"

Hayward CA, considered the heart of the bay as the cities motto states, I call it home. Ive lived in this area almost my whole life and it is a place that is dear to me not just for memories but also the fact of all the people i know and the history of the town. I played little league here, Christmas', rode my first bike in the park and learned how to swim all in Hayward and all by the help of people in the community. When i hear the motto "Heart of the bay" i honestly feel that because it has a special place in my heart and is dear to me
I moved to Hayward at the tender young age of 4. When i began going t school i met life long friends that i still am touch with till this day. I've also grown to be strong person in my community with some of the work I have done as well as volunteer work I have been a part of. My upbringing in this neighborhood was vital to the person I am today, I had a chance to see both sides of tr spectrum wealthy as well as the poor or lower income group.
I loved growing up in a neighborhood with everything around me. i live across the street from a community college as well as mall. It seemed like i couldn't live in a better place, everything you need in walking distance as well as having a nice swim club down the street was a plus during those hot summer days.
Being able to call Hayward home is something I take pride in it has a little for everyone even with its small space. For people who don't know of Hayward i would encourage them to visit and I'd be glad to show them what is called "the heart of the bay"

A piece of me.

Life is a treasure that I'd like to take full advantage of for the rest of my life. Thus far life has had its ups and downs but after 19 years I still stand. I have plenty of stories I could share but with this post I'll give you a piece of me. At the age of 4 I was adopted. I was lucky enough to be adopted by the greatest lady of all time as I'd say. she not only has had a great influence on me but also has been my best friend. In only 19 years I've been able to accomplish alot id say such as travel the world. Which to me is my greatest accomplishment beside the ability to make other smile. At the age of 13 I lost my brother which was a had thing to deal with but in time it only made me stronger. High school and college have been some of the funnest times in my life not just from a social stand point but as well as a growing as a person. During those times sports were very big to me and still are to this day. In basketball I was known mostly for being able to close out games, i relished in final moments and knowing the game was on the line. Sports where more than just a activity to me it was a chance to build relationships and help my community that supported my passion. I have been very grateful for the talents and skill I have obtained over my short span of living, with them I just want to grow more each and every day. My life has had its ups and downs but the way I look at it is, it's a path to success.

"The Poverty Business"

Recently in Business communications we had an interesting read. "The Poverty business" is what the tittle was and it involved stories of people and their life situations that unfortunately ended them up in poverty, its content really intrigued me. A story of a woman who needed a car for transportation and her many responsibilities had to go into debt with a loan just to get an old car that was bent out of shape. It was touching because I felt her struggle through the words. Big companies such GM, BAC, USB and Blue Hippo were just a few of the names causing a stir in the lower rank communities. In my honest opinion there are some flaws to what these companies do for instance; the companies target either a certain demographic as well as lower income individuals just to make their company more MONEY. Money seems to be there motive and not helping people and bettering the society.
Companies that do these such things are sickening and somehow we as a people should find other ways to support our selves or we will become just another story such like these being taken advantage of and not being educated enough to fight back or to understand that we need other solutions than just taking out loans or dealing with self-indulging corporations. They prey on the poor knowing they are not able to repay that amount due. I feel like they are getting away with crimes by doing this and no way shape or form are helping us or giving us instruction on ways we can use the money we have to the best to our advantage. These companies should not be trusted and we as people should be smarter and educate ourselves on what is going on behind closed doors.
In conclusion, I feel for the people that these “crimes” have happened against and we should find ways around them and assist each other with our finances so that we cannot be in these losing situations that cause stress on us and the people around us. Companies should quit what they are doing and instead of hurt us to their benefit they should help us and relish in that accomplishment instead of having their main focus on themselves, etiology should be used to find a cure of this disease of greed.

A New Wave: Google+

Google is a major innovator in the the tech and Internet world, with there search engine being number one. They have a grand following and just a few days ago Google released a new way to keep in touch or social network. Introducing Google+ is a new easy and subtle way to keep up with friends as well as share common views or share content on the internet. Google+ is set up with a live  updating stream from friends and with those friends you can place them in circles which would be like categories such as Friends, Family, Colleagues. Just like other social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter a "status" can be posted. The reason I see Google+ as a innovative tool in the social community is because of the "Plus" feature which is now in the Google search engine, this gives Google+ a unlimited supply of creativity as well as a way to categorize everything you do on the internet. I believe there are endless possibilities for what this could do video chats, "Hangouts", and "Plus sharing" are just some of the features that The soon to be leader in social networking provide. A glimpse into the social future is all this is and i know the popularity will only grow, an estimated 25 million people signed up for Google+ plus in just a few weeks. In comparison Facebook has 750 million users and Twitter slightly blow with a solid 200 million users. A new wave is approaching and i suggest you ride that wave into the future, and while your at it add me on Google+: Jay Hammonds.

The Golden Years

High school, they say its the best four years of your life and as for me it was just that. i went to a boarding school which id say was a new exspience and when it all began i was skeptical if i would even like it at all but since i had my friends and my sports (basketball, baseball, football) id be just fine and living on my own was a new thing but luckily i was mature enough to embrace it on my own and learned alot from it and though those four years i bennifitted tremedously and am thankful for the chance.

The Power Of Speech.

The use of language and the power of speech is key in life, it can help you in a situation and out of a situation as well as communicate with your fellow people. the way i speak is split in to between my peers and my work environment i learned most of the way i talk from my aunt who was a business woman all her life so i picked up a few ticks of the trade and noticed her love of words. Those things were passed down to me and because of that i can conduct my speech pattern in a manageable way in a business oriented setting. The other side of the totem i have tendency from my brother who also loved English but was a man of few words but things that would inspire, so in that sense i notice myself not speaking as much but when i do ill have select words and tone in the way i say them that others seem to be keen to like. I would like to say i speak in two terms, a business term as well as a proper but simple term around my peers. Speech is powerful and can be influenced in many ways some you may not even know. Overall I will continue to develop the way i speak throughout my life
