If it were up to me...

This being the last few days of L&D I do find myself wondering about internship and what I will bring to the table. I am excited but undemanding that my these last few weeks are as important as any other. Complacency is not helpful.

  • Which of these skills do you anticipate you’ll get to display first?

  • -I feel that my first impression will be to show my eagerness to learn and to contribute and take on any task. My sense of humor will be a a proper asset to me in my opinion
  • What is one question you have at the front of your mind as you approach internship? (Except for where you will be interning)

  • What will it take for me to get the full time job or contracting position here. No matter the internship I am placed in I will strive to reach my goals and get hired and do the best I simply can.
  • What kind of office environment do you hope to work in?

  • -I hope to be in an environment where I can get plenty opportunities to do work and show my skills. Culture, that is what sticks out most to me with a work and a fun, accepting, more free culture I would thrive in but I know if the opposite is what I am given I will still be comfortable
  • What kind of manager do you think you will work well under?

  • - A manger who is tough. A person who will give me work hold me accountable but still someone who I can communicate with when needed not only about work but other things going on.
  • What hard and/or soft skills do you hope to develop while at your internship?

  • -Soft skills, I feel like i could work on managing my relationships with people. Hard skills, I want to develop the reputation of reliability.
  • What anxieties (if any) do you have about your internship?

  • -None.
  • How do you plan to stand out while at your internship?

  • -I think the person I am will stand out. To make sure of that I will always show my face to everyone and look to work and be the one people call on when a extra hand is needed.
  • Do you have a tentative plan for what you’ll do after your internship? If yes, what is it?

  • -Yes, If not hired I will continue to look for a job. Second option would be to work on improving my skills in tech with certifications. Third option is going to pursue scholarships to go back to school and finish my Marketing degree.

    365 Days = Pricelss memories

    Top memories of 2011:
    1. Discovering Year Up
    2. Playing College Basketball
    3. Surviving the Alabama tornadoes
    4. Traveling (LA,Alabama,Atlanta,NY,Maryland)
    5. Laughs with my loving family and friends
2011, What a year. Quick, but an overall good year, times I will never forget along with great memories brought from my achievements and the people around me. Its funny to think of where you were in life when the year began and to see the transformation in only a short amount of time is amazing. 2012 looks to be a good year not only because of the opportunities year up has provided but because of a new outlook I have on life.

      A year to remember

Happy New Year to all, 2011 was a nice year I was given many chances to try many new things, and not only that I found a program I fell in love with, Year Up. For the new year holiday I got to spend it with the ones I love the most and counted down a new year with friends, family, and my beloved iPhone keeping up with all my friends an there endeavors throughout the night. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and couldn't be happier with my outing of 2011. Hello 2012.

      A family affair

Family, friends, and fun. I was fortunate enough to spend time with my sister from Atlanta and cousins from L.A. When all of us are together there is a never a dull moment, constant laughing, ongoing jokes, and you can never forget the family dinners. It was good to be able to just see one another. During these few days we have seen a few movies most notably "The girl with the dragon tattoo". Just to be around family made my break complete and always a time to remember and will always be my favorite time of year.

What does it take: The ingredients of an intern.

      Key Qualities of an intern:

      • Reliable.
      • Eager to learn.
      • Be assertive.
      • Quality work on time.
      • Be charismatic
      • Apply feedback
      • Communication
As an intern strive to do your est each and everyday. Come prepared as well as confident you can complete each task at hand with great results. Since being an intern is like an interview in it self, show up early, if not on time. Being organized is also a big thing that an intern should take in, this characteristics shows preparation. Setting up your work station when you get there is a part of being prepared. If you are at work early, you give yourself the chance to turn in projects a little early (after revision). Ask for help at the start of the day so others are given ample time to accommodate your needs and help you. Be hungry and eager to learn and show everyday that you belong there. Being an intern is a great chance to grow and show you can be an asset to a company.

      The Workout.

The job I came across that I really enjoyed that I felt really passionate about was working at a gym in high school as a gym assistant. My job title was exactly what I did, most of my day consisted of cleaning helping in classes filing papers signing people in and lastly just being a utility to others. I loved this job because of the people around me they made it fun loving and being around supportive people in sports oriented place was a cool thing to me, and in my free time I was able to play basketball with people there or even use the pool, it was my place of enjoyment but also employment. I developed skills of working with other filling free time with work not just play and I was able to learn how to fill out time sheets and file paper and organize them on the computer. I learned that I am a person that brought joy to others ion the work place and given a task I will do my best to get it done and I learned how to schedule things so my operations will run much smoother. I feel that these attributes will serve me in my internship because everything I learned there I have progressed on and it was good to have that foundation to build on going forward in my work and also my career.  It was a pleasure to work there and I learned how to use myself in a workplace and be an asset.

      Occupy Reality.

Occupy is a movement so strong in America during this finical crisis and Diego Rivera's Frozen Assets mural is a great depiction of art and reality behind our countries wealth. This piece draws many emotions with its somber feel and dim colors. Occupy is taking a stand for what they feel is right, them being the 99% of the population in a financial fall. Murals by Diego Rivera were done by him to evoke feelings and create deep thoughts; with the “Frozen Assets” mural he did a very good job of that. Rivera was a master at seeing a problem and being able to illustrate it. The now famous occupy movement has done a good job of showing the country that there is a serious finical equality problem and this movement has spurred thought in not only Americans but the world. Occupy camps are popping up all over the globe like, Occupy India, Occupy China and the infamous Occupy Oakland. Rivera’s work was something dear to his heart such as the people of Occupy and his work created a following as people began to understand the strong points and reasoning behind his hard work. Each passing day with these protest the occupy movement puts another staple in history just as Rivera had with his work and both with be everlasting and have changed our country.
